Welcome
The following website is intended to give you a look at World History, Cherokee History, and the Cherokee Language as well as who I am.
I am Brent Icenhower and I am the Department head of the History Department at RHS and I am currently in my third year teaching here at Robbinsville High School. I am also the student council sponsor. I am originally from Graham County and I graduated high school from RHS in 2002. I am very grateful and blessed to be able to come back to my home school and hometown to teach and work with the dedicated staff here at RHS. I have been married for a little over 2 years to Kaila Dianne Icenhower who also has an education degree. I enjoy spending time outdoors hunting and fishing, especially bear and raccoon hunting, and riding horses.
After high school I attended Tri-County Community College and then Western Carolina University where I received a degree in Social Science Education in 2008. I have a keen interest in Cherokee studies and I teach Cherokee History 2 days a week and co-teach Cherokee Language with a fluent Cherokee Native American speaker Shirley Oswalt 2 days a week. I teach World History 2 classes a day everyday. I also attend Lone Oak Baptist Church and I am the Student Council sponsor at RHS.
My motto for my classroom comes from a statement made from U.S. President Theodore Roosevelt which states "the more you know about the past, the better prepared you are for the future"!
